CCM Philharmonia and Concert Orchestras

The CCM Philharmonia and Concert Orchestras are two symphonic orchestral ensembles of the College-Conservatory of Music. Both orchestras offer ingenuity through eclectic programming. Philharmonia Music Director, Professor Mark Gibson, and Concert Orchestra Music Director, Dr. Akai Pung, both invest in the education of each student at CCM beyond the orchestral rehearsal by generously offering their time to listen to orchestral repertoire class mock auditions, present guest master classes in orchestral repertoire class meetings, as well as coaching students individually on orchestral excerpts the are preparing for professional orchestral auditions.

CCM Chamber Orchestra

Dr. Kevin Holzman, Head of the CCM Ensembles Division, founded the CCM Chamber Orchestra in 2018. His creativity of programming requires the highest performing level of the members of the CCM Chamber Orchestra. This ensemble provides rare opportunities for students to perform repertoire that often features repertoire performed one on a part, striking a unique balance between playing chamber music and orchestra. For students seeking to combine the best of both worlds, the CCM Chamber Orchestra offers performing incredible chamber music within an intimate orchestral environment.

Early Music Lab

Dr. Michael Unger leads the Early Music Program at CCM and offers classes dedicated to the interpretation and performance practice of early music. All students of the String Department have the opportunity to learn and perform on instruments of the viola da gamba family through the Early Music Lab.
